Frederick Gage was the son of Henry Martin
Gage, a butcher. With his wife Maryanne, he had nine children, including Ralph (1871)
and Felix (1873) - note that these names must have been added to the 1870
ledger some years later.
Albert was to become father of Rose Gage, who
married Clement Russell and was the mother of David Russell, and Felix became
the father of Evelyn Gage. One child, Edith, died in infancy.
Also added later, but unnamed, was a maidservant. In
1881, Emily Goymer,
whose family lived at Deysfield, had this position. Two years
later she had a son, Arthur Felix and married widower Henry Rudd, a silk
weaver.
