More Harveys - in this case, Jacob and Esther (née Deaves) who were married in
1859. Esther was born in Wattisham, the daughter of Thomas Deaves, and
she lived on until 1925. She bore nine children to Jacob between 1861 and 1886.
Ellen became a housemaid in the large family home of
farmer and merchant William Squirrell, of Prospect House, Nedging.
Jacob, a farmworker, was the son of Jacob Harvey and
Susannah (née Lister), and lived from 1832 to 1895. His son Daniel Reuben Felix
Harvey, who married Isabella Bigg in 1908, was the grandfather of Tom and Ted
Harvey, who now live in Cakebridge Lane.

... and more Bartons. James and Eliza had much in
common with their Harvey neighbours - both of local stock over several
generations, simple farmworking families, born in the 1830s and married in the
1850s. James Barton (1830-1898) was the son of James and Elizabeth Barton,
nephew of John, Edward and Letitia, and cousin of Rachel
Harvey. In 1851, he married Eliza Cutter, born in Kersey
in 1833, the daughter of John Cutter.
Eliza and James had five children, of whom one -
2-year-old George - died in April 1870. Two other children had already died in
infancy. Their son John left Chelsworth and by 1881 was a coachman living in
Willesden.
