Thomas Raynham, a thatcher, married
Elizabeth Playford of Bildeston in about 1823. They had seven children,
including Margaret who married Robert Pallant.
William and Elizabeth were their grandchildren, who
were not christened here; it is not clear who their mother was (perhaps Emma
?).
Emma and her mother Elizabeth both appear in the
1871 census as "laundress" and Thomas was a carpenter. The eldest
surviving son, John Playford Raynham, was a gardener away in Stradishall in
1881.

According to the index to the ledger, this used to
be the home of the widow Gosling - Jane, formerly Howell, the widow of gardener
Thomas. However, the next sheet suggests that she had lived next door at Oak Tree Cottage with her sons Charles and
George, together with the latter’s wife Charlotte.
Thomas had died in 1867, and Jane herself died in
1870.
