This was the home of George and Jemima Abbott,
who were married back in 1824. She was Jemima Wright, born in 1797 in Nedging
(or perhaps Chelsworth - the records are not consistent), and was possibly the
child of William and Jemima Wright, who also had a son James christened in
Chelsworth in 1797.
George was (probably) the father of George Abbott,
born in 1828, who lived in the large cottage we have nicknamed "Days" after the family who lived there just before it
was demolished in 1937.
George was the son of another George and Sarah (née
Roper) who were married in 1784. He was born in 1792 and died in 1872. Their daughter Sarah married Abraham Harvey,
the brother of Robert and Jacob.
His widow Jemima died seven years later.

William Cutter was - appropriately in view of his name - a
butcher. We have photos of him standing outside Bryant’s shop in Monks Eleigh
in later years. He was probably related to John Cutter in The Red House and to Elizabeth Cutter, wife of
John Claydon in Cakebridge Lane, although
unlike them he was born in Kersey, in 1841.
In 1864, William married Ann Maria Raynham
(1844-1923), the daughter of thatcher and parish clerk William Raynham of Meadow Cottage and his wife Maryanne (née Raynham,
also). They had nine children.
Like his wife, William Cutter lived well into the 20th
century, dying in 1917 at the age of 76.
